The origins of the current Tagomate Folk Group of Tijarafe can be traced back to 1973, when the arrival of Father Antonio Hernández led to the creation of the Club de Amigos, which fostered the recovery of traditional folklore. From this initiative emerged the folk group that today preserves and promotes the musical heritage of the Canary Islands.
